SLA conducts large scale cordon, search operation in Jaffna

More than one thousand Sri Lanka Army (SLA) troopers and police officers launched an intensive cordon and search operation in Jaffna town area, covering Koddadi and Naavaanthu'rai coastal areas Wednesday morning until noon, sources in Jaffna said.

The police and the SLA blocked all vehicular traffic on all main roads leading into Jaffna town from the suburbs. Passengers were asked to alight the vehicle during the checks. Fishermen of Koddadi and Naavaanthu'rai were not allowed to go fishing Wednesday morning. No information is available on whether anyone was arrested during the operation.
