Colombo court releases Tamil civilian

A Tamil civilian from Vavuniya who was arrested in Colombo on 24 th May was released Thursday by the Fort Magistrate following a report by Sri Lanka Terrorist Intelligence Unit that there was no evidence to implicate him with terrorist activity, legal sources in Colombo said.

Kollupitiya police arrested Emmanuel Nesarajah, 39, a father of two children and a carpenter, in a cordon and search operation while he was walking along road near the Presidential House.

He told the police that he had come to Colombo in search of employment.

The suspect was produced in court Thursday from remand.
