MPs protest against expelling of Tamils

The Sri Lankan Parliament was adjourned after Tamil parliamentarians demanded a debate over the forceful expelling of Tamil inmates from the lodges in Colombo and its suburbs Thursday morning. The house, adjourned at 10:00 a.m., started the sessions later in the day.
SL opposition leader Ranil Wickramasinghe reacted against the expelling of Tamils and called for a debate.
The Chief Government Whip Jeyaraj Fernandopulle refused to debate with Tamil National Alliance parliamentarians.
The UNP Tamil MP for Colombo, T. Maheswaran removed his shirt and threw it in the well of the house.
Jaffna MP S. Kajendran tore a copy of the SL constitution apart.
