Chengkaladi-Badulla road to be reopened

[TamilNet, Monday, 06 August 2007, 12:07 GMT]
The Sri Lanka Army (SLA) has announced that the main road between Chengkaladi and Badulla would be reopened within few days. This road has been closed for the last three months following Sri Lanka military offensives in Aayiththiyamalai, Karadiyanaa'ru and Iluppaiyadichcheanai areas that were held by the LTTE.

Sri Lankan military sources said that normalcy has returned to the area and the reopening of the road will facilitate easy travel in and out of the areas for the local residents.

Several roads in the area are also now being renovated, sources added.

A police station is also to be established at Karadiyanaa'ru within two weeks, SLA sources said.
