One STF soldier killed, six injured in Kagnchikudichchaa'ru

A Special Task Force (STF) soldier was killed and six others wounded when a combined team of Sri Lanka Army (SLA) troops and STF involved in deep penetration activity in Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE)-controlled areas in Kagnchikudichchaa'ru area in Ampaa'rai District stepped on pressure mines Friday evening, Amparai police said.
The team involved in the operation has been attempting to penetrate through Kagnchikudichchaa'ru village in eastern Ampaa'rai when more than three land mines buried in the area exploded simultaneously.
Seven STF officers injured during the mission were admitted to Ampaa'rai hospital where one of them succumbed due to heavy bleeding, hospital sources said.
