STF shelling wounds two

Two civilians were wounded in Palukamam, in the eastern Batticaloa district, when the Special Task Force (STF) fired shells from it's camp at Manmunaithurai last night. The Liberation Tigers retaliated by firing shells at the STF camp.

Meanwhile the Sri Lankan Army has tightened security in Jaffna town said sources in the northern town. New sentry posts have been put up in Stanley road and small tress on road sides have been cut down they added.

Stanley road, where the Jaffna SLA commander has his office, has been closed for traffic and only cyclists and pedestrians are allowed to use the road the sources said.

The army has also built a up sentry point on a building in front of the Sridar theater in Stanley road.
