U.S. ambassador visits JVP HQ[TamilNet, Tuesday, 02 October 2007, 03:12 GMT]United States Ambassador to Sri Lanka Robert O' Blake Monday held talks with Wimal Weerawanse, propaganda secretary and parliamentary group leader of the Sinhala Nationalist Communist Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP). The meeting was held at the JVP headquarters located at Battaramulla. Recently, the JVP delegation led by Wimal Weerawansa, during a tour to China had urged the Chinese Foreign Beureau and the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party to "resist the intentions of western powers to create an Israel in South Asia". Mr.William O Blake is reported to have told JVP leader that it was very difficult to defeat LTTE militarily, and the current conflict could only be solved by holding talks with the parties concerned. Wimal Weerawanse is reported to have told the US ambassador that the LTTE has been weakened due to the ongoing military offensive. The talks lasted for about thirty minutes and focussed on the current political situation in Sri Lanka, media sources in Colombo reported.
