Sammaanthu'rai police in Ampaa'rai district recovered the bodies of two Tamil youths with gun shot wounds Sunday morning in front of Addaippaalam Maariyamman Koayil in Sammaanthu'rai police division. Alleged to be from Karuna group paramilitary armed men had abducted the two youths and shot them dead elsewhere before dumping their bodies in front of the temple, residents in Sammaanthu'rai said.

The victims were identified as Geevaratnam Rajan, 26, from Kaaraitheevu 12 and Kanapthipillai Sathiyapalan, 30, from Kaaraitheevu 10.

Rajan had returned from abroad three months ago and the two friends were abducted when they were on their way on a motor cycle to attend the Addaupaalam Maariyammantemple festival.

Police handed over the bodies to relatives after post mortem was held in Sammaanthu'rai hospital.
