A 44-year-old security guard at the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) office located on Temple Road, Jaffna, surrendered Tuesday at the Human Rights Commission offices seeking safety from death threats by Sri Lanka Army (SLA), and SLA-backed paramilitaries, civil sources in Jaffna said.

The SLMM staffer, a father of two children, is from Arasady Road, Irupaalai in Valigaamam.

The SLMM staffer has been called to the local SLA camp and was questioned several times, and SLMM officials have discussed this matter with SLA military officials at the camp, according to informed sources in Jaffna.

Meanwhile, another 54-year old retired Government Servant from Mattuvil in Thenmaraadchy also surrendered at the HRC office fearing abduction by SLA and SLA-backed paramilitaries, according to HRC officials.
