Sri Lanka Army (SLA), Palaali High Command has announced the lifting of curfew on Monday and Tuesday to allow Jaffna residents to celebrate Christmas and to attend churches, sources in Jaffna said. Currently the SLA strictly enforces curfew from 9:00 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.
Christian community in Jaffna expressed relief that this year they will be able to attend midnight mass and special prayers at the local and other key Churches throughout Jaffna.
Last year the SLA had delayed the announcement of the lifting of the curfew to a few hours before the scheduled curfew time, and many were unable to attend midnight masses.
