EPDP stages Satyagraha

[TamilNet, Thursday, 10 December 1998, 18:05 GMT]
The Eelam People's Democratic Party (EPDP) marked world human rights day in Jaffna with a token Satyagraha near the Kandasamy temple in Nallur. Sources said that more than thousand people took part in the token fast and sit in.

The group brought persons from Vadamaradchi and from Kayts and the other islands in vehicles.

Meanwhile the People's Liberation Organisation of Tamil Eelam (PLOTE) marched with about 50 persons through the Jaffna town to mark the day.

The marchers carried placards urging the government to send food relief to the Vanni, to dig up the (Chemmani mass) grave, to desist from shelling and bombing civilian homes, to release Tamil political prisoners held at the Kalutara maximum security prison etc.
