Youth shot dead in Jaffna

Unidentified armed men following a 34-year old family man in a motorbike shot him dead near Murugamoorthi Temple vicinity in Kantharoadai West Chunnaakam, Valikaamam Saturday morning, sources in Jaffna said.

The victim, Tharmarajah Ragupathy, was returning to house in the same area in his motorbike when the killing took place. Mallaakam Magistrate, Ms Sarojini Ilankovan, visited the crime site and directed the Police to transfer the body to the Jaffna Teaching Hospital for postmortem examinations. Although residents in Murugamoorthy Temple area said the youth was an ex-member of PLOTE, officials of the PLOTE have not confirmed if victim was once belonged to their organization.
