Decomposed male corpse washed ashore in Jaffna

The corpse of a male in highly decomposed state washed ashore Thursday noon in Analaitheevu, an islet of Jaffna. Kayts Magistrate Ms. Joy Mahadeva visited the scene and inspected the corpse that appeared to be that of a male around 35 years of age.
The magistrate directed Kayts police to hand over the corpse first to Kayts hospital and then transfer it to Jaffna Teaching hospital mortuary for identification.
It is not known as to how the victim was killed or other such information, Kayts police said.
Three incidents of corpses in highly decomposed washed ashore has happened in the islets of Nedunththeevu, Pungkudutheevu and Veala’nai earlier.
Kayts police are continuing investigation into the case as directed by the magistrate.
