Tigers shell SLA camp

Two soldiers were wounded in the early hours of the morning around 2.30 a.m. today when the Liberation Tigers fired mortars on the Sri Lankan Army (SLA) camp at Chenkalady, 18 kilometers north of Batticaloa.
Sources said that the Tigers had started firing mortars on the camp from 1.30 a.m.
The wounded soldiers were rushed to the Batticaloa hospital.
The SLA retaliated by firing mortars towards the western hinterland of the district from several camps in the area.
The SLA's retaliatory fire lasted for many hours sources said. Damage in the hinterland areas were not known.
