Armed men who arrived in a white van on Tuesday abducted a 27-year-old family man in Akkaraippattu, Ampaa'rai, according to a complaint lodged by the victim's wife with the Police in Akkaraippattu.

Velmuruku, a former LTTE member, who was leading a normal life without any political activity after he left the movement was a mason by profession and was residing in Koa'laavil gs area in Aalaiyadivempu division of Ampaa'rai district. On Tuesday, Mr. Velmuruku, a victim of chronic asthma, was abducted near the bus stand in Akkaraippattu around 6:45 a.m. while he was on his way to work.
