Police constable shot dead in Kalladi, Batticaloa

Unknown gunmen riding in a motorcycle shot and killed a 32-year-old Sri Lankan Police Constable, W. Asanka, at Kalladi in Kaaththaankudi police division Friday around 10:00 a.m., Police said.

The Police Constable, who hails from Nikawareddiya in the Northwestern Province, was on his way in a bicycle to a nearby shop from his post when he was gunned down by the gunmen who followed him in a motorbike.

The policemen who received at least 7 bullets died on the spot, according to medical sources.
