Bride sought after wedding

A group of Sri Lankan Army (SLA) personnel went into the village of Siththaandy inquiring about girls who have been married recently. They had been on the look out for girls wearing a new 'Thasli', the traditional pendent of married Tamil women wear on a gold chain or yellow cord.
Many villagers were perplexed by this curious investigation by the SLA.
It had transpired later that they were searching for a girl in the village who had got married a week ago to a member of the Liberation Tigers.
The SLA had come to know about the nuptials belatedly from one of their informants in the area. The girl, however, was not found.
Residents said that she may have left the area, fearing that she would be arrested by the SLA.
