The armed gang had tried to rob some houses after assaulting the Saiva priest in Kokkuvil but had given up because the residents raised cries of alarm.

From Kokkuvil, the armed gang had gone to Koa’ndaavil, the village north of Kokkuvil, and attempted to rob the house of another Saiva priest near the Government Store.
