SLA extends curfew in Jaffna peninsula[TamilNet, Saturday, 07 June 2008, 13:16 GMT]Sri Lanka Army (SLA) Head Quarters in Palaali announced Saturday that the daily curfew imposed in Jaffna peninsula will be extended to last from 7:00 p.m to 5:00 a.m, with effect from Saturday night, increasing the existing number of hours by 2.5 hours. The earlier curfew hours were from 9:00 p.m to 4:30 a.m daily. Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB), in keeping with the extended curfew hours, announced that all its services in the Jaffna peninsula will be terminated around 4:00 to 4:30 p.m. with effect from Saturday. The increased number of curfew hours will further disrupt normalcy in the lives of the peninsula residents, civil society sources said.
