Kollupittiya police arrested three expatriate Tamil family men returning after many years abroad 18 June in kollupittiya, according to a complaint lodged with Sri Lankan Deputy Minister for Vocational Training and Industrial Education, P. Rathakrishnan, by the sister of one of the arrestees, sources in Colombo said. Police said that the arrests were made on a tip received by them that one of them was in possession of fake hundred dollar bills.

The three Tamils, all of them natives of Jaffna, had returned to Sri Lanka after many years abroad and were lodged at Hotel Renuka.

The police took the three into custody while they were having a drink in the bar near their hotel, the sister said in her complaint to the Deputy Minister.

Deputy Minister Rathakrishnan has taken the matter with the higher officials of police in Colombo.
