Vattaappazhai resident shot dead in Vavuniyaa

A resident of Vattaappazhai in Mullaiththeevu district was shot dead by a group of unidentified persons along Marakaarampazhai Road in Vavuniyaa town Wednesday morning around 11:30.

The victim has been identified as Nadaraja Sebamalai Jesuthasan,37 alias Sri, police sources said.

A group of persons had waylaid him in front of a rice mill located at Eesan Kudiyiruppu junction along Marakaarampazhai Road and shot him in his head while he was cycling from his home. He fell on the road dead.

His body was later handed over to the Vavuniyaa general hospital for postmortem examination.
