5 TMVP men arrested for robbery, in Batticaloa[TamilNet, Wednesday, 23 July 2008, 07:31 GMT]Batticaloa police arrested Tuesday evening five men of the paramilitary-cum-political party Tamil Makkal Viduthalai Pulikal (TMVP) on suspicion of robbing Rs. 700,000 and 15 sovereigns gold jewelry from a house in Kalladi area in Batticaloa on Monday evening, on the complaint lodged by the owner of the house, Batticaloa police said. The arrested TMVP men are Prasath, 22, Subaraj, 20, Thinesh, 29, Mahenthirarajah, 23 and Kones, 27. The five arrested TMVP men are detained in remand prison, the police said.
