Election related violence on the increase in NCP, SP

Campaign for Free and Fair Elections (CaFFE) said Sunday that election related violence and election law violations are on the increase in the North Central Province (NCP) and Sabragamuwa Province (SP) since the acceptance of nominations for the two provincial councils that are scheduled to be held on August 23.

CaFFE media spokesman, Keerthi Tennekone told media persons his organization has received 82 complaints of election related violence in the two provinces till Saturday evening. Anuradhapura district in the NCP has topped the list with 21 complaints of election related violence and Polonnaruwa 11 complaints. In the Sabragamuwa province, CaFFE received 11 complaints in Kegalle district and 05 in Ratnapura district.

He added CaFFE had also received complaints regarding the abuse of state properties and vehicles for electioneering in the two provinces.
