Upcountry Tamil youth arrested in Kadugannawa

A Tamil youth from upcountry was taken into custody by Kadugannawa Police when he was traveling in a passenger train from Colombo to Badulla Saturday night. When the train stopped at Kadugannawa railway station all passengers in the train were subjected to severe search and intensive interrogation, sources in Kadugannawa said.

Other passengers were allowed to continue their journey after inquiry except this Tamil youth who is a native of Kottagala in Hatton division but married to a girl born in Vaazhaichchenai in Batticaloa district.

The youth has been detained in Kadugannawa police station for further interrogation by the Terrorist Intelligence Division (TID) of the police, sources said.
