Anuradhapura tops in election related violence

Anuradhapura district in the North Central Provincial Council (NCPC) has recorded highest number of election related violence with two weeks more for the election that is scheduled to be held on August 23. Campaign for Free and Fair Elections (CaFFE) has received 102 complaints related to forthcoming elections to NCPC and Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council (SPC).

CaFFE media spokesman, Keerthi Tennekone told media that 39 complaints of election related violence have been made from Anuradhapura district and 14 from Polonnaruwa district in the NCPC. Nineteen election complaints related violence have been reported from Sabaragamuwa province- 12 from Kegalle district and 07 from Ratnapura district.

He added that his monitoring group has also received 92 complaints related to election law violation
