An upcountry Tamil youth, arrested by Panwila Police on Monday on suspicion that he was spying the activities of Minister Keheliya Rambukwella when he visited Menikhinna in Kundasale electorate in Kandy district, is still being detained and interrogated in the Kandy Police Station, sources said.

Minister Rambukwella arrived at Menikhinna to open a public relation office in the area.

The security forces in a search operation launched in the area one hour before the minister's arrival arrested the Tamil youth alleging that he had come to spy minister's movement.

The suspect was later identified as a resident of Rangala-Dakuwari estate in the Kandy district, police sources said.
