TID arrests Upcountry Tamil youth after police training

An upcountry Tamil youth was arrested by a team of the Colombo Prevention of Terrorism Unit on August 26 after one month training in the Kalutara Police Training School.

24 year old K.Chandramohan of Nanu Oya in Nuwara Eliya applied for the post of a police driver.

He went to Kalutara with necessary documents to appear for the interview. He was selected and had been undergoing training for about one month.

One day a police party from Colombo PTA division rushed to Kalutara and took the youth into custody stating that he had been involved in 'terrorist activity'.

He is now being detained in the PTA division of the Colombo Police.
