Several deserters are in the custody of SLA to face military tribunal.
Meanwhile, about 10 deserters escaped from police custody when they were being detained in the Meegathena police station.
SLA spokesperson, Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara, said about 6,000 deserters have rejoined the service during the amnesty period.
