White van gunmen abduct trader in Vadamaraadchi

Unidentified gunmen arriving in a white van Wednesday night just before curfew hours abducted a 26-year-old trader from his house at Karaveddi East in Vadamaraadchi, according to a complaint lodged by his wife with Human Rights Commission (HRC) Jaffna Thursday. Meanwhile, the wife of the person found beheaded and dressed in woman’s clothing Wednesday in Kapoothu, Thenmaraadchi, said that gunmen in a white van forcibly dragged him away Tuesday night, in her statement to Jaffna police.
The trader abducted Wednesday night is Vealutham Mukunthan, 26, is a family man. His wife said that no information is available about Mukunthan, in her complaint to HRC Jaffna.
The wife of the beheaded man found dumped in Kappoothu Wednesday morning identified the body as Kanthar Thangarasa, 52, a resident of Manthuvil East, Kodikaamam, in Jaffna Teaching Hospital mortuary during the inquest into the death, Thursday.
Gunmen who arrived in a white van broke into her house spoke three different languages and they dragged away her husband in the white van, the victim’s wife told Jaffna police.
The police, directed by Jaffna Court, handed over the body to the victim’s wife Wednesday evening.
Wednesday morning the beheaded body of a male dressed in sari and blouse and bearing wounds indicating severe torture was found along Chaavakachcheari-Point Pedro road in Kappoothu, Charasaalai, in the area between Vadamaraadchi and Thenmaraadchi, Chaavakacheari.
