Claymore attack injures STF commando in Batticaloa

Unidentified persons triggered a Claymore device Thursday around 5:00 p.m at Aayiththiyamalai in Vavu’natheevu police division in Batticaloa district, seriously injuring a Special Task Force (STF) commando, attached to 3rd Mile Post STF camp, who had gone to bathe in a well 200m from his camp, sources in Batticaloa said.

The injured STF commando Sunil, 33, is admitted to Batticaloa Teaching Hospital.

Around seven STF commandos had gone together to bathe in the well from their camp located on Vav’natheevu-Aayiththiyamalai main road.

Aayiththiyamalai is situated 20 km north of Batticaloa town.
