SLA soldiers assault civilians in Mannaar

Following a shooting incident close Mannaar St.Sebastian Church Wednesday that injured two Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldiers, the SLA troops who rushed to the scene entered the Church and assaulted civilians who had come for the mass, civil sources in Mannaar said.

An electrician identified as Joseph was seriously injured in the attack and admitted to the Mannaar general hospital. The town area became deserted, and the hops and eating houses were closed down. Tension prevailed in the area, sources said.
