Masked gunmen rob Tamil trader in Ea’raavoor

Unidentified armed men wearing masks robbed at gunpoint a Tamil trader Thursday around 4:30 a.m. in his shop at Ku'richchi 4, Ea’raavoor in Batticalaoa district. The robbers entering the house, located 75 meters from Ea’raavoor police station, had bound the trader and made off with his wife’s marriage chain and 11,000 rupees in hard cash, according to complaint made with Ea’raavoor police.

The trader robbed is Marimuthu Manickam who has a grocery shop in his house on Kaa’likoayil Veethi, Kuruchchi 4, Ea’raavoor.

The total worth of the robbery is around 3,90,000 rupees.

Ea’raavoor is located 16 km north of Batticaloa city.
