SLA soldiers arrest 33 civilians in Pa値ai

Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldiers arrested 9 women, 20 men, and 4 children in a search conducted Friday, in a house in Choaranpattu, Pa値ai area, earlier held by Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), sources in Jaffna said. SLA handed over the arrestees to Kodikaamam police.

When Kodikaamam Police produced the arrestees in Chaavakachcheari court, the magistrate directed the police transfer the arrestees to Jaffna Teaching Hospital for medical examination.

The magistrate also directed the police to place the arrestees in Koappay Refugee Centre maintained by Jaffna Government Agent after the medical examination.

Meanwhile, 20 civilians including 14 males, 5 females and a child who had fled in a boat from the ongoing war in LTTE held areas in Vadmaraadchi east and washed ashore in Point Pedro had also been placed in Koappaay Refugee Centre.
