Artillery barrage continues on 'safety zone', no sign of external help

The Sri Lanka Army (SLA) was continuing artillery barrage on civilian 'safety zone' despite the repeated calls to cease artillery fire by the medical authorities that are struggling to provide medical help, according to latest reports from Udaiyaarkaddu hospital on Tuesday. There is no sign of external medical teams or supplies coming in as requested by the hospital.

Many of the killed victims have been buried where they were killed. Even the wounded who manage to walk are hesitant to make it to the hospital as the area surrounding hospital has been targeted by SLA fired artillery shells.

The major problem is transporting the wounded to the hospital.

"There is no precedence to what is taking place here in Vanni, in the history of South Asia," a medical volunteer attending the wounded civilians said. "India and the International Community have sold their humanity to the genocidal perpetrator himself. This has never happened in South Asia."
