The man, Ravi, has succumbed to his injuries at the hospital Saturday evening, sending shock waves across the state, according to media sources in Madurai. The father, from Pa'l'lippaddu (Pallipattu) village near Madurai, was battling for his life for hours till his death at the Madurai Government General Hospital after suffering serious burn injuries. His wife Chitra, who spoke to media, attributed her husband's self-immolation as a means to draw attention to the genocide of Eazham Tamils. One of their child is named Pirapaharan.
