Tamil labourer shot killed in Batticaloa

Unidentified armed men abducted a Tamil labourer Tuesday around 7:30 p.m from the dairy farm where he worked and later shot and killed him, in Akkaraanai in Punaanai police division in Batticaloa district, sources in Batticaloa said.

The victim was identified as Ilayathamby Rathakrishnan, 28, a native of Thu’raineelaava’nai who had come to work in the dairy farm in Akkaraanai.

The body of the victim was handed over to his relatives after post mortem examination in Vaazhzicheanai hospital.

Akkaraanai is located 25 km north of Vaazhaicheanai town.
