Young Tamil Teacher in Weligama detained in Booza camp[TamilNet, Thursday, 02 April 2009, 17:01 GMT]Weligama police arrested a young Tamil Teacher who went to the police station to seek permission to travel to his family in Jaffna and sent him to Booza Detention Camp in the South, according to a complaint made to Jaffna Human Rights Commission (HRC) office by his family members. The teacher sent to Booza Camp is Ponnuthurai Prakalathan, 25, a native of Kokkuvil Veethi in Jaffna. Prakalathan, on completion of his education in Ruhunu National College of Education, was serving in Weligama Astra Muslim Junior Mahaa Viththiyaalam as a temporary teacher. Prakalathan’s family members have requested the HRC officials to help have him released and handed over to them.
