Armed forces not given due recognition - SCOPP chief[TamilNet, Friday, 31 July 2009, 17:08 GMT]The activities of the Secretariat for Coordinating the Peace Process (SCOPP) came to an end Friday. SCOPP Secretary General, Prof. Rajiva Wijesinha said Friday in a farewell message that the armed forces have not received enough recognition for the work they have done for the people in the country. He thanked the armed forces for their commitment in ending the war and bringing peace to the people of the country. “They have maintained discipline and courage in their humanitarian efforts to rescue people, to protect them, and to rebuild the country. They must be acknowledged for their efforts,” he said.
