Hundreds of Tamils interrogated in Colombo

Sri Lanka police and military launched a large scale search Monday from 4:00 a.m til 10:00 a.m in the suburbs of Colombo where Tamils live in large numbers interrogating hundreds of Tamils, sources in Colombo said. The search was conducted on a tip off, Wellawathe police said.

Police and military from outstations too were deployed in the search which was conducted in areas including Rudra Mawathe, Perera Lane, 37th Lane, Fusels Lane, Peniquik Lane and Galle Road in Wellawathe.

All the residential flats in the above areas were subjected to search and the vehicles passing through the areas were also checked.

The search created traffic congestion.

No arrests have been reported.
