Two policemen wounded in Jaffna

Two Sri Lankan policemen, in mufti, were wounded when unidentified gun men believed to be members of the Liberation Tigers opened fire at Temple road in Nallur, 3 km, east of Jaffna town, yesterday evening around 6.30 p.m. said sources.

The wounded policemen, Chaminda Pushpakumara, 26 and W. A. Jayasiri 25, have been taken to the army hospital at Palaly, the sources added.

The Sri Lankan Army cordoned off and conducted a search operation in the area.

(Correction: It was reported earlier that two Sri Lankan Army soldiers were wounded in a clash.)
