The Special Task Force (STF) of the Sri Lanka Police Tuesday night shot dead two Tamils along Thuraineelavanai lagoon in Batticaloa district.

The victims were later identified as 32 year old Peethambaram Loganathan alias Ariyam of 13th Colony and 27 year-old Peethambaram Puvanenthiran alias Kanthapody of Kannankudah.

The STF claimed that they were cadres of LTTE.

On receipt of information received by the STF unit in Kaaraitheivu, a STF party rushed to the site and fired at them. STF further claimed that they recovered one T-56 rife and some cartridges with their bodies.

Kalmunai Police Wednesday handed over these bodies to the Kalmunai Ashraff Hospital for postmortem and inquiry, sources said.
