A gang of four unidentified armed men clad in military uniform Friday abducted a Tamil trader on his way to Colombo in his lorry, between Habarana and Minneriya, according to complaints lodged with Batticaloa police by his wife and relatives Tuesday.

The abducted trader is Suntharamoorthy Nithiyanantham, 50, a resident of Puthunakar in Batticaloa.

The abductors stopped the lorry and took Ninthiyanantham away saying that they were taking him to the police station, according to the driver and cleaner of his lorry.
