2,950 persons of 930 families from Jaffna held in Vavuniyaa Sri Lanka Army (SLA) internment camps arrived in Jaffna Sunday through A9 road and all of them are being lodged in Iínuvil Maththiya Mahaviththiyaalaym and Neerveali Aththiar Hindu College, sources in Jaffna said. Steps are being taken to bring around 20,000 persons of Jaffna origin held in Vavuniyaa internment camps to Jaffna in the next few days, Jaffna Secretariat sources said.

Nearly 27,000 persons of the 47,000 persons of Jaffna origin detained in Vanni had been brought to Jaffna from August until now.

Handing over the IDPs brought to Jaffna Sunday to their relatives after screening continued until Sunday midnight, the sources added.

Meanwhile, arrangements have been made to bring nearly 3,000 persons from Pulmoaddai camp in Trincomalee district. These persons will be first lodged in interim camps in Vavuniyaa and then brought to Jaffna along A9 road.
