Police arrest Tamil youth in Ampaa'rai

Akkaraipattu police took into custody a Tamil youth Tuesday in a sudden cordon and search launched in Koa’laa in Aalayadveampu in Ampaa’rai district for staying in Koa’laa without registering with the local police, sources in Ampaa’rai said. The youth had come a few days ago to Koa’laa to work as labourer in road renovation, the sources added.

The youth had come a few days ago to Koa’laa to work as labourer in road renovation, the sources added. The arrested youth is Velautham Satheeskumar, 19, a resident of Natpiddimunai in Kalmunai. The cordon and search took place from 6:00 am to 12 noon Tuesday. Akka’raipattu is located 72 km from Batticaloa town.
