9,95,612 from East eligible to vote in SL presidential election

9,95,612 registered voters in the eastern province are eligible to cast their votes at the presidential election that is scheduled to be held on January 26.

District-wise breakdown was provided by the Election Department as 2,41,133 persons in Trincomalee district, 4,20,835 in Ampaa'rai district and 3,33,644 from Batticaloa district.

The breakdown of the voters according to electoral-districts follows:

Trincomalee electoral district: 86,685 (Trincomalee), 85,401 (Moothoor) and 69,047 (Seruvila).

Batticaloa electoral district: 97,537 (Kalkudaa), 80,972 (Paddiruppu) and 1,55,135 (Batticaloa).

Ampaa'rai electoral district: 1,37,779 (Poththuvil), 66.135 (Kalmunai), 71,442 (Chammaanthu'rai) and 1, 45,479 (Ampaa'rai).
