Dengue on rise in Vavuniyaa, 15 reported dead

Health officials in Vavuniyaa say they were struggling to control the spread of Dengue fever in the district. Meanwhile, Sri Lankan health ministry sources in Colombo said the spread of the fever has been brought under control in Matale and Colombo districts, but situation in Vavuniyaa is getting out of control.

Meanwhile, Sri Lankan health ministry sources in Colombo said the spread of the fever has been brought under control in Matale and Colombo districts, but situation in Vavuniyaa is getting out of control. More than one thousand people are thought to have contracted the disease and have been admitted to various hospitals in the Vavuniyaa district within this short period. Special arrangements have been made to arrest the spread in Vavuniyaa and a special medical team has also been dispatched from Colombo to the district for the purpose.
