Ki’linochchi police recovered the body of a youth, hand and legs bound behind, tied to a stone and dumped into a well in Aananthapu’ram in Ki,’linochchi where some people have been permitted to resettle, sources in Ki’linochchi said. The youth, staying with his parents in one of the camps in Vavuniya, had gone to his brother’s place in Aananthapu’ram Sunday and had been reported missing since then to Ki’linochchi police.

The victim was identified as Velupillai Sasiroopan, 29.

As only a few persons have been permitted to resettle in Aananthapu’ram they live scattered and some of them being aware of an offensive odour emanating from a well had first found the victim’s body and informed the police.

It is suspected that the youth may have been abducted and killed before his body being dumped into the well.

Vavuniyaa magistrate S. Alex Raja visited the place where the body was found and conducted the inquest into the death.

He directed the police to submit a report and ordered the body to be handed over to his parents in Vavuniyaa camp.
