Stadium grave exhumation planned

The excavation of graves near the Duraiappa stadium in Jaffna will commence at 7.30 a.m. tomorrow under the direction of the district's Judicial Medical Officer (JMO) S.V Sri Rajeswaran.

The Jaffna additional magistrate S.A.E Ekanathan will be present at the site during the excavation.

The JMO will take bones and skulls from the site for forensic examination said court sources in Jaffna.

The additional magistrate and the JMO inspected the grave site this afternoon around 12.30 p.m. The medical officer checked the condition of the pit.

He said that human skulls and bones appear at a depth of about 2.5 feet from the surface and are found up to five feet below.

Jaffna Municipal Council diggers will assist the JMO to excavate the grave site tomorrow said sources in Jaffna.
