Colombo Court remands Vavuniya Tamil youth

Colombo Fort Magistrate Monday ordered further remand for a Tamil youth till May 17 when he was produced in court by Sri Lanka Police on a report that he had allegedly been involved in bomb attacks in the south during pre-war situation, legal sources said.

The suspect has been identified as Selvanayakam Vernon alias Arvinda who was arrested few days before in Vavuniyaa by the police.

Police in a report to court said at that time arrest the suspect was in possession of a claymore device weighing seven kilo gram.

The Magistrate directed the police to hand over the suspect to the Terrorist Investigations Unit (TIU) for further investigation.
