Akkaraippattu Magistrate Friday refused permission to a Tamil youth to sit the Advanced Level as he was detained under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA). The youth, A. Suthaharan, arrested April last year, is detained in Batticaloa prison.

The youth, A. Suthaharan, arrested April last year, is detained in Batticaloa prison. Suthaharan had applied to sit for the General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced Level examination that is to commence this week and the Department of Examination has allowed him sit the examination. The court had given the reason for the refusal that the applicant-student had been detained under the P.T.A.
